Eve’s Story ~ Breastfeeding Photographer Spokane WA

For World Breastfeeding Week, I met with a few different moms to help them capture their breastfeeding relationship, and to hear a little about their breastfeeding journey. Eve, lovely mama to Yonatan, shares a unique story on her breastfeeding journey.

“When my son was three months, I let go of the “ideal breastfeeding journey” that I had built up in my head, and started supplementing. I learned then that every little bit counts, and I celebrated every feed, and every ounce I was able to pump at work. When my son turned one, I learned that nursing is about so much more than the milk. Even with my now very limited supply, when my son is sick, all he wants is to nurse. Not much milk comes out, but a lot of other things do: comfort, security, affection. My letdown no longer consist of milk, but of love. Of course there are plenty of way to show your child love, but for me and my son, this is one of the main ones at this stage in his life. When he tugs on my shirt, he knows he’s not about to get a full belly, but instead a full heart, as my love lets down and surrounds him. Who knows how long we will continue… I will let Yonatan decide when he would rather snuggle than nurse to get his dose of affection. Until then, we will continue nursing. In bed, at the park, in the supermarket. No place is off limits when it comes to love.”
